This four-part evidence-based course provides families with the knowledge and common-sense strategies to confidently navigate the transformative experience of childbirth and the early days of parenthood. Join us to learn about the stages of labor, the power of normal, physiologic birth, effective comfort measures, understanding your options with interventions, creating a personalized birth plan, and developing the flexibility to adapt to unforeseen circumstances. Our comprehensive model embraces diverse perspectives, ensuring you find the approach that best supports your family's needs, regardless of your chosen birth setting (homebirth, birth center, or hospital). This series goes beyond birth, including a dedicated class on newborn care, co-parenting dynamics, and preparing for a supported 4th trimester. ▪️Recognize and describe the stages and phases of normal, physiologic labor and birth. ▪️Interpret contraction patterns and emotional cues, and determine the appropriate time to go to your chosen birth setting. ▪️Implement strategies for preparing your mind and body for labor and birth. ▪️Demonstrate and apply a variety of natural comfort measures during labor. ▪️Explain the available medical pain management options. ▪️Articulate the principles of advocacy and informed consent in childbirth. ▪️Outline the different methods of medical induction. ▪️Analyze the risks and benefits of common labor and birth interventions. ▪️Create a comprehensive and personalized birth plan. ▪️Understand and interpret basic newborn communication cues and behaviors. The final meeting of this series is the Beyond Birth: Newborn Essentials class with Katie DaMota. You do not need to book separately.
